California Poppy is Blooming! ![]()
I’m so excited to see another wonderful medicinal plant blooming in my herb garden. California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica). I will be making a tincture soon. One of the best things about this plant is that you can use the entire plant, flowers, leaves, roots, and even the seed pods!
California poppy is known for its gentle [properties that may help with:
Sleep support
Calming anxiety
Relieving mild pain
Historically, it has also been used in some interesting ways:
A poultice of fresh root and seed pods has been used by breastfeeding mothers wanting to dry up milk supply.
The fresh root has been applied to help ease toothaches.
You can combine it with valerian root and passionflower to make a soothing bedtime tea.
As always, I encourage you to do your own research and consult your healthcare provider, especially if you’re taking medications, have a health condition, are pregnant, or nursing.
Happy growing, foraging and herbcrafting! ![]()
